Drum Lessons for Teenagers/Young Adults Drum Classes in Singapore

If you are a teen and you gravitate towards the School Of Rock, musical theatre, jazz band, or any number of musical disciplines, teens interested in music often choose to learn the drum kit among other musical instruments – and for good reason. Stop your finger taps and play some real acoustic drum kit now!

Efficient Lesson Plan

As educators in Singapore, it is important to identify the skill level of every individual drum student. No two students are the same. Students are assessed on their music theory, music potential, musical proficiency, foundation skills, proper technique, and others before the Drum Instructor develops the lesson plan. Like any of our music lessons, our drum lesson structure focuses on the basic beat and you'll be playing drums right away. Sheet music and drum scores will be provided.

Our Music Education

In our music school, we have a proven track record of helping students ace their music exams. Our drum teachers work closely with students to emphasize their strengths, work patiently on weaknesses, instill confidence, and make learning easy and fun. Whether you have a musical background or not, we will walk you through your musical journey with our Specialized Drum Syllabus. Our drum teachers are familiar with preparing students for Trinity Rock & Pop, Trinity Guildhall, Rockschool, and LCM examinations.

Do you have high aspirations of performing for school or even at the professional level in the future? Our drum teachers will prepare you to perform in a live band. With the edge in the performance aspect, students find themselves transiting into a true musician smoother and easier. Let us take you through the basic drum beats to establish your foundation skills. Our drum instructors are experienced in teaching students with or without music notation. (Although a healthy balance of both will be great!) Students will learn how to handle the pressure of doing a drum solo in a live band. Students are encouraged to watch live performances and give feedback on the performances.

Core Philosophy

Building on the proper techniques by practicing basic rudiments is the most vital part of our to-teach-list. We have developed progressive exercises on drum notation for students so that they can master the basic techniques in no time. Play drums with the correct technique prevent injuries and help to improve speed over time. We aim to help turn your simple rhythms into perfect rhythms. By tapping on your existing skills to develop under proper guidance, it gives you a major advantage over other drummers. It is not required for students to take exams even though it is recommended.

Your Drum Lessons

Building the foundation skills in our young musicians, the aspiring drummers, is very important. We have drumming lessons dedicated to teenagers because they are at the age where they are most receptive and sensitive to learning. Having the correct technique in playing can shape their future in drumming. We will cover concepts such as Drum Rudiments, Drumstick Grips, Striking Methods, Stick Control, Drum Theory, Foot Technique as well as common other Musical Terms. Let us know what your preferred music genre is, and we can teach you the techniques and skills that can help you achieve your goals!

Fun Facts

  1. While some may argue that guitar tabs are easier to read than scores, music notation for drums is really easy to understand.

  2. Music Theory does apply to drum kit players but mostly from the rhythm part of it. Advanced players do interpretations of the pitch of notes and musical texture on another instrument score to determine what they should play. Having good music theory helps us, drummers, to communicate with bandmates more effectively.

  3. Electronic Drum kits are affordable and reduce the noise level significantly that drummers received next to no complaints from neighbors! Electronic Drum Kits are also able to give you sounds that you otherwise would not be able to get from a regular acoustic drum kit!

  4. Drum kit is part of the percussion instruments family.

  5. When we coin up the term "Drum Lessons for Teenagers", we do have some students that are younger but regarded as teenagers for our syllabus planning. Every student is a unique individual.

  6. In order for Drum Classes to be effective, a good amount of practice time allocation will be necessary to develop the correct technique.

  7. About 50% of our students prefer to play drums as a casual hobby rather than taking music exams.

  8. Forming a band and attending group rehearsals is highly encouraged. Many students improve tremendously after they are part of a band.
